Dr. Julie Chang
Founder & Optometrist

Dr. Julie Chang was born in S. Korea and immigrated to the United States when she was 11 years old. She grew up in Aurora, Colorado and attended University of Colorado, where she majored in Biology. She then received her Doctor of Optometry degree at New England College of Optometry located in Boston, Massachusetts. She continued her optometry education and completed a residency program with emphasis in geriatrics at the West Lost Angeles VA Medical Center. Dr. Chang founded Optikos Optometry in 2001 and has been serving the local communities ever since.

 

Dr. Julie lives in Valencia, CA with her husband and 2 beautiful daughters. She is an avid Denver Broncos fan and in her free time, she enjoys traveling in her RV with family and friends.

Dr. Sarah Chung
Optometrist

Dr. Sarah Chung was born in Alaska and raised in Monterey Bay, California. She received a Bachelor of Science from University of California, Davis and a Doctorate of Optometry from Illinois College of Optometry. Her ability to practice wide scope optometry is contributed to her extensive training at the Palo Alto VA, Las Vegas VA, and Primary Care and Glaucoma clinic at Illinois Eye Institute. She has also served underprivileged communities as part of an optometry mission in Honduras and Mexico.

 

Dr. Chung is currently part of the American Optometric Association, California Optometric Association, and Los Angeles County Optometry Society. She is certified in treating and managing eye conditions such as pink eye, foreign bodies, contact-lens induced infections, and glaucoma.

 

On her free time, Dr. Chung is exploring new restaurants or planning her next travel destination. She also enjoys photography and snowboarding during the winter season.

Dr. Mimi Phan
Optometrist

Mimi Phan, O.D. received her Bachelor of Science degree in Physiology and Neuroscience with a minor in Psychology at the University of California, San Diego. She continued her education at the University of California, Berkeley, where she received her Doctorate in Optometry. She went on to complete a residency at the Long Beach Veteran’s Affairs Hospital with emphasis in primary care, low vision rehabilitation, traumatic brain injury, ocular disease and complicated contact lens fitting.

 

She is TPA and glaucoma certified. Dr. Phan is also a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry and an active member of the California Optometric Association, including the Low Vision Rehabilitation section.

 

When Dr. Phan has free time, she likes to experiment with new recipes in the kitchen, knit, crochet, hike, go to the beach in the summer and snowboard in the winter.
